You are worth it

How many times have you found yourself saying “I would (work out, eat healthy, learn something of importance, journal, meditate, ________), but…
~I’m tired
~I don’t have the time
~NCIS is on (ha, this is a good one for me!)
~My family needs me
~I need to phone a friend
~I need to take care of (kids, nieces, nephews, godchildren, grandchildren)
~Laundry, cleaning, cooking, shopping”
We all know the list goes on and on, and it doesn’t really matter what the “I would ______” is, our reasons (ahem, excuses) for not taking care of ourselves are universal. Here’s what I want you to consider…

While I know that other people and circumstances are incredibly important to you, I have a request for you. For just one day, carve out time for yourself. I would implore you to take a good look at your life and really process what happens when you take care of you. I would venture a guess that when you take care of yourself, you also de-clutter your brain, and are more present with life. I would also go out on a limb and say that you are then happier when you are doing/taking care of/being with others. Also, I would ask you to take a good look at your “reasons” for not doing the things to take care of you. Reasons can be valid. They can also excuses. To complicate this just a tad bit more, they can be both simultaneously. Even within valid reasons, there is room for boundaries. There can be, I promise. If you’re not finding where you can place boundaries, look harder. I know this is a little bit of tough love, but you are worth it. You are worth carving out a half hour, an hour, even two…for your health and happiness. Find the time. Find the space. Find that you are worth your own time. You are worth it.

Lynn DeVasto is the owner of SuperGirl Workout.  After losing 90 pounds, she made the decision to help woman be their own super-hero and find their own version of “fit and fearless”, while being true and kind to themselves in the process.

~ Important but boring stuff:  She holds certifications in personal training, holistic wellness coaching, sports nutrition and barre.
~ Perhaps unimportant, but fun stuff:  Wakes up every morning at 4:30 (ugh), lives with her kitty love (Brady), has yet to meet a potato she doesn’t like (especially if mashed), currently nominated for Best Personal Trainer in South Jersey!
