Who is the Goddess?

These past several months I’ve been intently focused on writing, studying and speaking about the Feminine Divine. I’ve immersed myself in the Goddess and Her essential qualities. I’ve delved into Her archetypes as seen in many different cultures. I’ve written page after page in my new book about the rise of the Feminine Divine.

But why? What is so important about the Goddess who might seem like an outdated myth in our modern world?

For those of you who haven’t experienced the energies of the Goddess directly – or who aren’t quite sure if you have – who is She, really?

The Goddess is the laughter in the eyes of a giggling baby.

She is the compassion of a little girl gently lifting up a bird with a bent wing.

She is the tenderness between lovers, as hands and lips explore and candlelight flickers.

She is the intensity of a mountain storm, lightning flashing, deep booms of thunder echoing across the valley.

The Goddess is a mother whipping up three different dinners for her picky children, presenting them with a flourish despite her exhaustion.

She is the frazzled clerk fumbling for the correct change, then grinning apologetically as she plops it in your outstretched hand.

She is the confident entrepreneur striding into the conference room with head held high, ready to prove herself yet again.

She is the sunrise on the ocean turning the clouds lilac and fuchsia.

The Goddess is an old woman, bent and stooped, lugging her stack of books up the stone library steps.

She is the scent of rosemary lingering in the air.

She is a circle of Water Protectors, whirling in an ancient dance, expressions fierce, skirts jingling.

She is the crescent moon sinking slowly over the pines.

The Goddess is huddled in a worn overcoat, chapped hands shoved in her pockets, shivering in line at the soup kitchen.

She is that feeling you get when you just know the right thing to do, for you, right now.

She is a flash of insight, a creative inspiration, the eternal Muse paying you a visit.

She is the last straw when you just can’t take it anymore and you snap, telling off the bigot spreading hatred in your neighborhood.

The Goddess is the helping hand reaching out to steady you before you fall.

The Goddess is you. She is me. She is our beloved planet Earth. The Feminine Divine resides in all of us, loving us unconditionally, waiting patiently for us to awaken to Her presence.

May we welcome Her into our hearts.
