When life gives me lemons

I always love the expression “When life gives me lemons, I will make lemonade.” It has something uplifting. Something is always there that will make life better in a way. But what if you get so many lemons you’ll end up making lemonade, lemon curd, lemon pie, salted lemon – to a point you run out of recipes. What if it all becomes so overwhelming you end up sitting on the floor and get buried under the lemons?

We are all struggling and life is just one thing we understand. But do we know what is going on? Covid has and is still stirring things up. Every time we think “Okay, now we can start building again,” nope, something new is coming up and we are not restarting. I believe even our motors are not ready to make one more restart of anything.

Feeling overwhelmed is a universal feeling at the moment. What happens when life adds even more to the scale? A loss of a family member, relatives with dementia, deep nasty family trauma, a country that goes into complete lockdown and the list goes on and on. Where do you breathe, where do you recharge? Is recharging even a possibility?

I wonder how do we do it. I know I am not alone. What has happened to me has happened to many other amazing people, good people. We wake up every day and try to be the best version of ourselves possible. We join membership sites to learn and be positive, and we talk to professionals who try to help us out. But there is nothing to do.

It feels that we are better off accepting what is and to pull an extensive line underneath it all. Pick up the lessons we’ve learned so far to make sure we don’t put this loop on repeat and do it over again. It feels that the overwhelm on the situation, the way people think they can treat us and get away with it needs to stop. We are the only people who can make it stop. It ends here now, I say.

Ready to start? It is not necessary to join any memberships or take any courses. Reach out to like-minded people. Build a community around yourself that makes you feel safe and happy. Pick food that makes you feel better and your body and mind love. Trust that the life experience you’ve had is your education. You have a PhD in it. You are a straight-A student and you have experienced it as well. There are so many real accurate studies you’ve conducted and the results are full of lessons and takeaways to make different choices. You can present it with exact scientific numbers why something works and why something doesn’t. Back these numbers up with real-life examples.

It is the perfect fuel to restart your life. Be kind to yourself and others around you. Follow your desires guided by your intuition as your compass is strong and pointed toward your true north.
