The Treasure Hunt

You have heard tales of buried treasure. Wealth. Abundance. Peace. Beauty. Love beyond measure. Personal and spiritual gold. All the good stuff rolled into one. Into all. This is the treasure you seek, we all seek. With each breath. Each thought. Each movement forward is somehow in search of the what could be yours.

There is no map. No X to mark the spot. There are clues. Plenty of them. Hidden in the sweetness. The love. The possibility of everything and anything. The line of energy of what feels mighty and delicious is all you get. And it is plenty.

So you walk, following your heart to what feels best. Looking under rocks and trees. Looking in the hearts of your fellow treasure hunters. You get glimpses that you are on the right path. Waves and waves of giddy love and creative bliss may wash over you. You may start to think that you have found that magical chest holding all the goodies. It feels good enough. The nagging thoughts die down enough. Life is shiny enough. You think that this must be it, must be the thing you have been looking for. The treasure!

Until, things start to look a little dull. A little less magical. Until you realize that you had found something or someone else’s treasure, not your own. The fit is not right.

You begin looking again. Upside down and right side up. In the depths of thought and philosophy. Searching in the hidden meaning of stories. Or paintings. Or futuristic movies and ancient texts. The wisdom is potent and dizzying, but ultimately unsatisfying.

At some point on this treasure hunt, the mirror turns its face toward you. You think, yes! The treasure is inside of me. ME! There is love waiting to be unlocked. Knowledge waiting to be revealed. And so you begin digging. Working your process. Exploring your path. You set out to healing all the parts that seem unseemly. You will fix what needs to be fixed. Heal what needs to be healed. And then before you know it, the treasure will awaken itself to you.

This can go on for a while. Lifetimes. Working. Fixing. Waiting. Waiting. Waiting for the treasure to come into view. It is rough. Lonely. And seemingly never ending. This is, until you begin to feel for the clues. The clues, ones of pleasure and goodness, are still around you. They seem different when the focus becomes internal. They may not look as sparkly, but damn do they feel amazing. The moments of bliss and joy that bubble up from out of now where. Or the delight you feel when you breathe deeply with your whole being.

The clues will lead you to the truth….the treasure is not inside of you. It is you. You. Just as you. Just as you have always been. The glorious easy to love parts. The prickly pieces. The aspects that run from the light. All of them. It’s more than the love in your heart. The longing in your belly. The knowledge of your mind. It is all that and then some. The treasure is the totality of you. The treasure, the riches that await are waiting for you to see them. To know them. To be them. The full embodiment of who you are is the greatest, grandest treasure the world will ever you.

You are the treasure.
