There is no magic bullet

In this one life, we’re lucky to find people to walk the road with us…with being the key word in that sentence.

I’ve had many incredible mentors, influencers and guides.  Each of them shaped me and helped me become who I am today.  They walked with me, but it’s always been my road.

That can be a difficult pill to swallow.  There have been days (months?) where I would have given my left arm for someone to tell me what to do so things would all work out; give me the magic bullet to make things all better or fix whatever felt most broken.  I think we’ve all had those times, and there are plenty of people trying to sell you the magic bullet.

The truth is, there is no magic bullet, and this is good news.

When I look back on the times that I considered trying some supposed magic bullet, I can so clearly see that wouldn’t have been my road.  The stumbles and pot holes along the way were all a part of it, and as much as I didn’t want to hear that at the time, I can see the value in them now.

My bumps are what shaped me.  Staying on my road means staying true to me.  I wouldn’t trade my road for anything.
