The trip of a lifetime!

In December 2018 we found ourselves JUST falling over the line. We live life at full throttle – Hubby and I work 5 days a week and then work on weekends with our music. Our daughter works 3 jobs and Jamie our youngest is working hard at school. We were frazzled, tired and in need of some family time.

So, as all our final commitments came to an end, we hopped on a plane and left for Sri Lanka. This is my birthplace and I wanted to share that with our kids. While doing some research I found that Sri Lanka is one of the world’s top places for travel and I can see why.

As soon as we landed we were greeted by our lovely driver and friend, Sumith. (It is important to have a local here.) He ended up as part of our family and we really could not have done the trip without him.

There are so many aspects of this holiday that stand out. The main one for me is spending time with my family – seeing them experience blue whales and leopards, pulling together to get us through the 24hr travel time, card playing at night and getting past the difficulty of living in close proximity with each other. Often at home we seem to spend time in the 4 corners of the house separately.

We had a range of accommodation from hotel style to old bungalows and treetop houses. Accommodation can be as cheap or as expensive as you want. All of the people were welcoming and we loved the variety the country had to offer. We took part in lots of activities – there is so much to do.

If you are considering Sri Lanka for a vacation spot, I would say go for it. We loved it!

Til next time lovelies.
