The Potato’s Legacy of Love

Behold the mighty potato,
the side kick that often,
without fanfare,
takes the lead
in so many ways.
It is, like so many of us,
down to earth, solid,
and quietly always there,
under-estimated
in its steadiness
and its simplicity.
Behold the mighty potato,
that friend to all
who do not question,
who do not demand
more than it can offer.
It soothes with its
wisdom and variety.
It will mash, bake, roast,
or fry away any problem
if you just will embrace
the motherly comfort
it unconditionally offers
requesting nothing in return.
