This year is a little different for us.
Normally in January during the school holidays we have gone away somewhere. If we haven’t been away during January, then we head away for Easter. COVID changed that!
Like everyone else, at the moment I am starting to feel a little caged. We work hard and I look forward to having some downtime away with the family.
So this year after a huge term at work, I fell in a heap on Good Friday. Easter is at home. Good Friday was spent in my Pj’s and sleeping – trying to rejuvenate.
Easter Saturday I had a bit of a mental hole. Easter wasn’t going to be what it had been in the past. Both our kids are older and they now have plans with their friends. So things are going to be different.
BUT, what I soon realized is that different isn’t bad. We had my mum over Easter Saturday so she could wake up with us and celebrate Easter Sunday. Last night was spent playing Cards Against Humanity. I was gobsmacked my mum won and at times was slightly uncomfortable with the innuendos that were flying; but we laughed, we drank good wine and we spent time together – something that is a rarity during school term.
For me, Easter means new life. So although I couldn’t do what was traditional for me, we made new traditions. The end result…a soul that was nourished and happy.
Thanks goes to my little tribe for showing me that sometimes new traditions are better than being stuck in the old.
Happy Easter folks.
