So Uprightly Burning
It took me a long time to figure out how to love myself. The journey is long, and there are many routes. Once I found my route, I saw that the whole journey had been a rich and varied series of treasures and surprises. Looking over my treasures one day, I decided that I needed to share them with the world. And that is how this blog was born.

So Uprightly Burning is a blog where I write about spirituality, creativity, and healing. I provide suggestions that will inspire each reader’s creativity and sense of her/his unique set of possibilities and talents. My study of Buddhism is coupled with years of experience as a yoga practitioner and teacher, and I am so very eager to share the multitude of insights and techniques that have brought me transformation.I am still building my own life, too, so I often write about my own path, and even sometimes give little glimpses inside with photos and the occasional video blog.

The site is still in the spring of its existence, sprouting lots of little green shoots of new ideas waiting to blossom. I welcome you, with open arms, to come and share in this journey. You will find regular updates, chock-full of inspiring stories, quotes, poems, photographs, links, and the occasional video blog entry. New features will be continually popping up. The next new idea in line is a Weekend Haiku Challenge that all of my readers will have a chance to participate in weekly.

My intention is to create a community of women who have overcome suffering, or are on a path of recovery. Suffering is universal, so everybody will find value in this blog. However, since I work professionally with survivors of abuse, many of the tools and techniques I offer will be especially applicable to that population. So Uprightly Burning is a trigger-free zone, a place where you will learn that healing can be fun, and that so many parts of the journey can be light-hearted and sweet. Please come join me, and let your light shine.
