Receive Grant Money for Your Act of Kindness Project

Submit an idea for a charitable act to win the Matt Kurtz Kindness Grant of $250.

We want to help make the world better, one kindness at a time. The Matt Kurtz Kindness Grant was created to help people who have great ideas to spread kindness but may need additional funding to implement their project. In order to be considered, submit your idea and let us know what you would accomplish with an extra $250.

The first Kindness Grants were awarded earlier this year. Jude Al-Hamad, one award recipient, said, “Thank you so, so much for making my act of kindness come true. This is truly an honor and it has been an absolute blast planning and executing my idea. I was able to put together 10 care packages for the kids at Believe In Tomorrow. Thank you for making this possible.”

Connie Hammes, the other award recipient, said, “Thank you SO MUCH for helping us make this dream of ours come true!” (Building an outdoor space for the cats at the local animal shelter).

The next Matt Kurtz Kindness Grant will be awarded August 1, 2019.
Submit your idea, no later than July 15, by filling out the (MKRO).
The winner will receive a $250 check to be used for their act of kindness project.

Large or small, acts of kindness matter. Kindness is never wasted, it’s contagious and can have profound consequences – a ripple effect. While you can’t always see the direct outcome, such altruism ripples out and touches many lives.

This award is in honor of Matt Kurtz, (1985-2017), a young man whose personal philosophy was to live an honorable, compassionate and non-judgmental life. To give for the sake of giving, to expect nothing in return, to be aware of the world around him and to step in to help others without being asked whenever he saw the need. Matt believed in the ripple effect of a simple act of kindness – like a pebble dropped in water, it goes on and on. You can find out more about how Matt lived his life, examples of his many acts of kindness, big and small, and why this award was created on
