Peace Exists Within

Sometimes my old forest haunts call to me,

Their melancholy voices sweetly lonesome;

And I remember, and I drift back

To a time when the only crowd I knew

Was the bustle of trees as the wind passed through,

And the only gossip I ever heard

Was the twittering birds above my head.

It was there, deep in the dark recesses of Solitude

That I learned to hope; Silence was not extinct

Nor never would be, or could be, when Peace

Existed within.
