Why One-Size-Fits-All Formulas Don’t Work

Would you ever shop in a store that had all of the same shoes? No variety, all the same size, no choice, no consideration for individual taste or comfort?

Probably not. I sure wouldn’t.

Yet we try to fit ourselves into one-size-fits-all formulas all of the time. I know you’ve seen them. I have,  and they are tempting. All of the flashy titles and promises of things like ‘10 steps to success‘ or ‘5 ways to lose 5 pounds in 5 days‘ or ‘8 things to do to be happy‘.

Trust me. If there was a one-size-fits-all formula for happiness, success, health or anything else that worked; I’d be yelling about it from the rooftops! Truth is, of course there’s not.

Every one of us is different. We have a different past, a different story, different preferences and different desires. We’re unique beings, yet so often we try to shove our uniqueness into a box…and we blame ourselves when the box doesn’t fit.

Maybe the box is the problem. Maybe the box has always been the problem. Maybe you’ve been shopping in a store that only carries the same shoes in the same size…and they don’t fit you.

The problem was never you. One-size-fits-all formulas don’t work. Come on back next Monday and I’ll tell you what does.
