Leaving in the Middle

Sometimes you have to leave at the peak, to avoid the crash.

This is a lesson I had to learn pretty early in life. I couldn’t tell you what it was exactly that made me learn it though.

Maybe it was the countless lost stock trades or the loss of love. It could have been the countless situations in my life that started off great but ended up feeling like torture when things got closer to the end. Who knows?

What I do know now is that I’m at the beginning of a new chapter and it feels like I left before things reached the maturity stage.

I was staying in a house, much like the house I’m staying in right now except for the fact that the house I was in was massive. I mean it had 5 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms and was just huge overall with tons of space in it for running around, if that’s something you like to do.

The size of the house was great. What was bothering me was all of the cleaning we had to do there. I hated it. I hated the fact that we were woken up on a regular basis, early in the morning to clean. I hated the fact that I had to wake up at 8:30 on a regular basis to go to groups. It was horrible.

To add on top of that, my old house manager, Andre, decided to move on with life and left the house as a house manager. And the new house manager, well, he wasn’t bad but he was new. And that newness was what made living in that house no longer enjoyable.

I was used to Andre. The cool house manager who brought everyone together and didn’t nitpick with chores.

To add to the feelings I’d been having towards my living situation, the company who owned the sober living decided, since I was being discharged soon, to tell me I would have to pay $1500 in rent for a bed in a shared room.

So now, I’m here, at a new sober living and wondering how it’s going to go.

I pray that it’ll all be okay because I did follow the energy.
