Here’s to the Mess

Here’s to the mess. The chaos. The absolute uncertainty and the jitters that go along with it. Here’s to the unending questions. The wonderings. The ramblings. To getting lost. To getting mad. To getting a case of the giggles in the midst of it all. Here’s to paint splatters on the ceiling. And behind your ears. To made up words. Crumpled pages. Ripped up books. Here’s to mistakes. Missteps. Recreations. Here’s to the unravelling. Dismantling of the silly notions of right and wrong. Here’s to life.

Here’s to not caring about perfect. And going with what feels amazing instead. Here’s to trusting the path. To knowing that life is a curvy road, backtracking on itself over and over again, so you never quite know you are in the grand scheme of things. Here’s to letting go of which way is which and embracing which way makes your heart sing. Here’s to finding your own song.

Here’s to mad bursts of creative prowess that keep you magnificently disheveled as well as up all night. Here’s to deliciously unproductive naps. To staring straight ahead, allowing the ideas to form as they will. Here’s to pushing that boulder up a hill and laughing hysterically when it finally rolls down to the bottom. Here’s to the freedom the comes when expectations are dropped and the mystery is surrendered to. Here’s to forgetting the next steps and falling into something completely new.

Here’s to the illusions that keep you running in circles. Here’s to lack. To pain. To separation. Here’s to the power they provide. The motivation they give. The stories they spark. Here’s to the maddening clarity that sneaks up on you and says “BOO!”. To knowing the truth and choosing appreciation. Or not! To centering deep in ourselves and finding the joy in the wild abandon. Or not!

Here’s to tears. To anger. Frustration. Here’s to the nerves. The jitters. The feeling of wanting to shake someone silly until they finally understand what the heck you have been experiencing. Here’s to the stumbles. The scrape knees. The bruised egos. Here’s to realizing that none of it matters.

Here’s to you. Your world. Your process. Here’s to the amazing manner in which you create the beaten path only to walk away so that you can do it again. Here’s to the courage the you shine with. The delicate way you rip through the scrim that separates you from that which you had been longing for. The magnificence in which you stand, no matter. Here’s to your life. Make it a messy one!
