Recently I have felt lost in the helplessness, in the searching for answers. It’s easy to stay in the sheer disgust and panic of what is happening both within our country and our world.
I need answers and progress and closure. Since they’re not coming, at least I can be informed about the world, the laws, the wars and which organizations will truly help. I feel like I’m searching for all the things, all the time.
At the same time, I’m searching hedgehogs; funny, adorable, roly-poly hedgehogs. My Instagram feed is full of them. I need something that is ridiculously adorable and just for me – something that can bring me back to the joyful part of me.
I think we all need that.
What are your hedgehogs? What brings you joy? Who or what can you turn to when it’s all just a little too much? I am painfully aware that so many people don’t have this luxury. I used to feel guilty about things like that; but life has taught me that I am not contributing to anybody else by denying myself joy.
You are not contributing to anybody by denying yourself joy.
Contribute to you. Contribute to your joy. By doing so you not only raise your energy, but the energy of others around you. Energy has a ripple effect and you cannot help but lift up others when you are showing up as your best self.
It’s not so simplistic that by finding your joy you will solve all the problems. What it will do is allow you to respond from the truest version of yourself instead of reacting from a place of anger and bitterness.
Stay informed. Find your hedgehogs. Stay close to your people. Love hard.
