Healing The Wounded Healer

You are a healer. Whether that’s your job title or not, you are a healer. You do it by being. By breathing. By setting those glorious intentions and making change in the world. Every action you take matters. Your presence is a catalyst for evolution. Revolution. You are a healer…in your own life and in the lives of others. The more you know this, the more you accept this, the more wondrous growth you can effect in the world.

The word “healer” stems from the Indo-European root kailo, meaning whole. I like to think of it as reminding us all that we are already whole. It is not our job to fix. The role of a healer is to illuminate the innate wholeness that is the truth of every soul. We get to clear out the blocks, beliefs and other assorted trash that lead to the pain of our heart. Of our mind. Of our physical being. We get to assist in letting go of all that no longer serves the joy of our souls…anything that clouds the vision To step full into our wholeness.

Yet, many people stand tall in their story of wounding and pain. They serve from a place of hurt, identifying with the aches of others, rather than knowing the divinity that resides at the core. They want to help because they understand, but often what is understood is not the freedom on the other side, but the bramble path of hurt someone is stuck in.

When we stand forth as a wounded healer, we spread our wounding. The work ceases to be about those we serve. It becomes a well worn path…one of searching and seeking for that ever elusive elixir or those magic words to make it all better. We miss the chance to truly see and reflect back the possibility of living in the consciousness of divinity.

It’s not about being perfect and having no issues. It is about knowing that the issue you are dealing with is just that, an issue. An illusion created as an opportunity to love yourself more. The hurt, the pain…the experience of brokenness is not the truth of who you are. The truth is so much greater. So much grander. A healer has the opportunity to live and give from the overflow, knowing deeply that they are a radiant being of awe. That the stories are tall tales that get swapped in the mind. And that anything that blocks the knowing of the truth is remedied by loving.

This is an invitation to get grounded in the absolute amazement of who you really are. To know that despite the stories, despite the issues, despite the wondrous ups and downs of human existence, you are divine. And all those you encounter are as well. See the faults in the stories and know that though those cracks the light of truth shines through. Look past the falsehoods and into the heart of pure love. Shed the wounding and embrace the wholeness. From there, you can truly heal.
