Giving Is Good Business

Do you want to reach your goals? Do you want success? Behind every ambition, every dream, every goal, is a person, an individual, a human being (not a human doing!). And every successful person had a little help along the way, but the key to success is not getting help but giving it! Creating positive, interactive, and beneficial relationships within your community is how good business is built.

How do you nurture good relationships? You give. The more you give, the more you’ll get. One of the many advantages of giving is growing personally and professionally through being of service to others. And when you are a force for good in your community your community will come out in force to support you and help you achieve your goals.

Here are three ways you can be of service to others and nurture positive relationships in your community.

Networking – It’s not what you get, it’s what you give.

Networking is a beautiful example of people helping people. Networking is sharing information, support, and services among a group of individuals with common interests.

Networking allows individuals to expand their reach and share resources. You can share your experience, your enthusiasm, your skills, opportunities, contacts, and more. Doing so is beneficial to the giver and the receiver. When you give to your network you can build a reputation as an expert in your field, build confidence through exercising your knowledge and experience, and enjoy the satisfaction of helping others meet their goals.

Just a few of the many awesome things you have to share with your network are:

Personal experience
Introductions within your network
Partnership opportunities
Constructive feedback
Your smile!

Start building and engaging your network. Don’t know where to start? Just take a deep breath and say hello!

Mentoring – Growing through giving.

Mentoring is a one-on-one relationship in which an individual of greater experience shares knowledge, social capital, and support with another individual. Mentoring relationships grow the mentor and the protégé.

Mentoring relationships can help the protégé create a development plan, identify roadblocks and brainstorm solutions, and select a more efficient path to success.

Mentoring relationships don’t solely benefit the protégé. A mentor grows through learning new lessons by revisiting your past experiences with a more seasoned view, improving leadership and coaching skills, gaining a new perspectives and new insights into situations discussed with your protégé, and creating a legacy.

Let your network know you’re available to be a mentor and get ready to give and grow!

Volunteering – The gift that keeps on giving.

The best way to create a world you want to live in is to volunteer. Through volunteering you can improve and support your community. There are many opportunities to give to charitable organizations, social organizations, as well as business and professional organizations. Choose an organization you support and give more than your money, give your time.

Volunteering is a great opportunity to build new skills! Want to learn more about website administration? Want to improve your marketing skills? Want to become a better photographer? On-the-job experience is an effective way to build your skills and there are plenty of organizations that need your skills.

Volunteering is also a way to showcase your awesome skills. Not only are you giving to your community, you’re giving your community the chance to see what you have to offer which may lead to new business opportunities.

Get going and get active in your community!

We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.
