Excerpt: Introduction: Fallen Angels

Angels have no philosophy but love. – Terri Guillemets

The twelfth house is the most spiritual house in your astrological chart. It is often shrouded in mystery. Many astrology books that I read in the past could never explain the twelfth house in a way that resonated with me. After many years of research, I realized that only someone with twelfth house planets could actually understand it or explain the energy that surrounds it. From personal experiences with twelfth house energy you are able to help others understand the most secretive, hidden and illusive house in astrology.

Twelfth house people are the kindest, most compassionate and sensitive people on this planet. From a young age, you often feel different from everyone else. You might have felt like you were an alien from a foreign land. You never felt like you belonged here on this earth. I have heard similar shared stories and experiences from people all over the world. Many people with twelfth house planets have told me that at some time in their childhood, they often wondered if they were adopted. You felt so distinct and different from your immediate family, that you would grasp at straws trying to figure out why you were so different. A common personality trait that all twelfth house people share is that you feel like you have something inside you that is foreign and different. You perceive the world in a way that is not like normal people. This uniqueness is something special. It is true that you are not like normal people. You often feel like you are from another world.

Most twelfth house people experience mystical and unexplained experiences from a young age. You see ghosts, dream things that happen and can sense when other people are upset or angry. Many people call these abilities empathic and intuitive abilities. It is like you have spider senses and can pinpoint the emotions that others experience. It is no surprise that many people with problems and unhealed pain are drawn to you. I used to feel like there was a sign on my back that said, “Come to me; I will help you.” This trait sounds like a positive trait. In reality it can be very painful. The reason it becomes painful is because you often lack boundaries. Your energy is wide open and you give freely. Your energy is like a bright flame that moths are drawn to. You are like a candle that attracts everyone and everything that needs healing. You are a light that shines brightly in the darkness.

You have to be careful how much energy you give and how much you can withstand. By being selfless, you often feel drained. You not only crave time alone, but it’s crucial that you make time for yourself to be alone. Your mental health is associated with being alone and having time with your own thoughts. Being alone is not a bad thing for twelfth house people. You actually need this time to recover, recoup and reemerge into the real world. This is why the twelfth house is often referred to as the house of escapism. The only reason you want to escape from the world is so you can find peace. You also seek a connection with yourself and the universe. You love to be home reading a book, doing art, meditating, journaling, writing or listening to music. You love to sit in silence with your own thoughts, emotions and energy. You are completely fine being in the house alone for days. Sometimes you never leave the house unless you have to. You are content with your own company. Many people don’t understand you or your need to withdraw from social situations. You often make excuses as to why you can’t go out to eat or attend a social event. You know how you will feel once you are around other people, so you decline. You usually want to leave and return home to your private world. You get drained very easily and your energy is sensitive to other people. Surrounding yourself around spiritual art and music brings comfort. Owning pets like small dogs or larger animals such as horses can be healing for you. Animals often become a surprise therapy pet for twelfth house people. Giving unconditional love is natural for you and animals can be something that helps you survive the more difficult times in your life.

I remember being young, and for some reason, I was always drawn to angels. I was obsessed with learning about angels and I collected angel figurines. Everyone knew the gift to buy for me on holidays and special occasions––was an angel. I never understood where this fascination came from. I was not raised to be religious. I had a natural fascination with mystical things. Angels were one of those spiritual things that I was drawn to study.

Believing in angels for me was protective and made me feel safe. I felt like angels were watching over me, ensuring that I was safe and supported. When I had to go out into the real world, I would think about my guardian angels being around me. Knowing this helped with my anxiety and fears. I felt invincible, like no one could touch me or hurt me. I was naïve because I believed that angels were there all the time to help me. Sometimes when we pray we don’t immediately have answers. I finally learned that sometimes the universe sends people as “angels” to assist us and support us in our time of need. Angels in human form. These people often have twelfth house planets.

Twelfth house people are what I call “fallen angels”. It’s like you fell to earth, to a foreign land. You wander weak and weary wondering why you are here. You question who you are. You feel disconnected at times from your environment as if you are living in a dream. When you are with groups of people you can disassociate from your physical body. You feel like you are an observer and like the world around you is a movie. I remember this happening to me all of the time and it was so hard to explain this experience to anyone. Sometimes when you walk, you feel like you are walking on air and that your feet are not placed firmly on the ground.

You often feel like no one understands you until you find your spiritual circle and group. That is what you are seeking deep inside your heart; you are seeking other people who are just like you. It might take you awhile, but you will find them. You need a spiritual support system in your life to help achieve the goals you choose to accomplish this lifetime. You are here for a purpose. Sometimes this purpose is forced upon you, and the universe strips away from you the very things that you love and cherish. Through these difficult experiences, you often feel that you have to sacrifice yourself, your feelings and your emotions for the greater good. A greater lesson is that you learn that sometimes you have no choice but to let go.

Twelfth house people are giving and enjoy helping others. You like to feel helpful and to be of service to those in need. That is why many twelfth house people and those with Pisces energy are drawn to the helping professions such as psychology, social work, counseling and spiritual advisors. You like to listen to other people’s problems. You have such an empathic nature and strong listening ability that others are drawn to you. You can listen to others and offer a kind word of validation, because you truly feel other people’s pain. You put yourself in other people’s shoes fully. If someone begins to cry, then tears will swell up inside your eyes and you will cry too. You absorb other people’s pain, which makes you a spiritual healer. There is a price to this ability, because sometimes you neglect yourself. You may avoid your own self-care.

When planets are placed in the twelfth house, you are someone who wears your heart on your sleeve. You have a very strong, compassionate nature that is otherworldly, just like the traits of an Angel. You often take on other people’s pain, karma and burdens. You are walking around on the earth as empaths absorbing all the dark, painful emotions of humanity that surround you.

When planets are in the twelfth house you often ignore yourself, especially when you love someone or when you care about someone. Self-sacrifice is the natural energy of this placement. It’s not that you choose to do it. It comes naturally for you to focus on other people and to care about your friends and family. You forget yourself in the midst of your helping. You’re meant to help others, but you need to have a good balance. Your lack of boundaries between yourself and other people can cause you pain and suffering. You can be so selfless that you get taken advantage of by those you trust the most. You can be wounded by selfish people who only take and never appreciate or give back to you. This is why the twelfth house is the house of suffering. Feeling used, tossed out, abandoned and betrayed is often a twelfth house experience. This happens when you see other people with rose-colored glasses. You are so innocent that you believe that other people are like you. That is the greatest lesson to learn. The fact is most people are nothing like you and are incapable of the kind of love and sacrifice that you can give to your fellow man.

Even angels need time away from people to recharge and recuperate. Twelfth house people are truly angels on earth. You are fallen angels who wander here helping everyone that crosses your path. You are always blessing others with your vast amount of kindness and compassion. The world needs you, and you are a shining light in the darkness. You show those who are struggling that there is a glimmer of hope. That glimmer of hope is the fact that you exist in this mundane world. You walk among us.

We need twelfth house people to be strong. It is important that you take time to withdraw from the world. This will help you go back out into the real world and serve those who need you. This is when you will feel that you are meant to be here in this world. You will begin to realize that you are a fallen angel. You are not where you are used to being and you feel it’s hard and cold here. You begin to realize that you chose to fall to earth so that you could support others, and be a light for them.

You need to allow your angelic light to shine, even if your wings are damaged. You might have some scars. You need to straighten that bent halo and remember who you are. It is not an easy mission to love like an angel, to give like an angel, but you naturally do it. You are God’s healers and messengers on Earth.
