All In

I sat across from a woman today. A woman, experiencing serious physical challenges complete with the wonderings of life and death that the situation brings. During the course of our session, after she shared her fears and learnings, I asked if she was All In. All In her life. Her experience. All In her commitment to not just live but to be alive. Fully. Beautifully. With joy.

Being All In is an act of courage. It asks that you put everything you have into who you are. No longer holding pieces back for safe keeping. Everything riding on this magnificent life you are privileged to live.

It can be scary to no longer hedge your bets. To no longer wait it out to see what others have to say and let their words be the thing that forms and shapes the view that you see. Feeling for who you truly are, without falling for or pushing against the prescribed vision is brave. It is daring. And it is what it takes to be All In.

When we are All In we know that there are gifts in every moment. Each act of the universe is a reflection of who we are…the mirror shows us the way, deeper and deeper. We mine the day for treasures, letting nuggets of love and gold flow towards us. We use the miracles of action and creation to consistently craft mighty works of art. Our art. We are willing to stand tall in our selves, allowing the wild of who we are show up. Without excuses and apologies. Anchored in the truth of our wholeness, we let go of the stories of failure and broken. We risk foolishness for the thrill of the YES that comes racing up inside of ourselves.

Are you All In? Present? Committed? This is not a time to lean. Or tippy toe. This is your life. This one. Right here. We may get more, but I don’t know. I do know that there is this one. Are you going to use it all up? Use it by doing and being and filling your self up with the fruit of your desires that is a perfect and messy dive into all of you?

As I looked my client in the eye and asked if she was All In. Light shown past soft tears to illuminate the whole room, she said yes. In that moment, I knew I was too.
