It was the earliest of mornings
where the mixture of scents
created a memory so real –
it brought back a past of targets
and checks thrown together
waiting for the one to collect
and praying it would be
during a down time –
70s music hummed low
a scent added in –
a cool water so intoxicating
that the mind turned
and the heart woke
from its deep slumber
but it was just a memory
swirled together by
scents of
coffee and white musk
