A Commitment to Love

Things happen. Things that the human mind can only describe as terrible. Horrific. A tragedy… because other words do not fit the scope of the pain that is present. Maybe things like this will always happen. But maybe not. Maybe they don’t have to. Maybe we can commit to something new. Something greater. Maybe we can commit to love, at all costs. And maybe with the depth our of our commitment, the experience of the great collective can change too.

Let’s commit to love. It matters. It heals. I was taught that healing is the application of loving to the parts inside that hurt*. Any part, any person, that is angry is hurting… letting the mighty force of their rage try and protect the borders of their softness. Of their personal ache. Let’s love those part of us so they no longer contribute to the chaos of the whole. So we no longer need a mirror of violence and hate.

Let’s commit to loving those who hold the pain inside of them. Who mirror back our own internal wars. Let’s love them as if they were us, as that is the truth. Isolating, shaming, pretending does not make better. Love does. And it’s worth a shot. Because what we do now is not working. I look at things like The Prison Project and marvel. Change is possible when open hearts, stand forward and guide others into the awareness of there own love and wholeness. When we dare to see the divine inside us all, anything is possible.

Let’s commit to our Wholeness. To knowing it truly in ourselves. To seeing in in others. When we buy into another story it is devastating. We get lost in the illusion…the separation. We forget the truth of connection. We live in lands of right and wrong, rather than a world of love.

Let’s commit to stop using band aids when the challenge requires something so much grander. No more fixing of the symptoms, leaving the pain in heart of people wide open and weeping. Let’s commit to being fully responsible for our experience. And for teaching that to all. Let’s teach people that they are the creators. Let’s teach them how to create. That what they experience over and over mirrors something inside of them…a deep commitment to to pain or chaos or whatnot. Let’s teach the that they can recommit just as we do. Let’s teach that taking responsibility is not about blame or shame… it is about standing forth as an artist of your life, and doing different because that feels best. Let’s commit to learning from something other than violence, pain, hurt, chaos, lack and loss. We can learn just as much from love.

It begins with a commitment inside of yourself, myself, ourselves… that is what it takes. That step matters. It ripples out. You cannot make global change unless you are willing to embody it deeply in yourself. As we are all selves. And when we all commit to inside of ourselves, global change cannot help but happen
