How I Overcame My Insecurities By Being Kind To Myself

For as long as I can remember, I have dealt with insecurities. They started small because of some life events that made me feel worthless and insecure at that time but gradually got worse. Small events that weren’t even about me felt like they happened only to make me feel unworthy.

From motivation to relationships, everything in my life was deteriorating. My life only got worse as I started repeating the same things over and over again in my mind. I knew at that time this couldn’t go on forever. I can’t live my whole life like this.

I started searching for ways to remove insecurities from my life. I watched countless videos on YouTube and read several self-help books. Many advised I should start spending time in nature, play with animals and do all sorts of different things. I did all of that and although doing them mildly helped, I still could feel the insecurities arising from time to time.

I wanted a permanent solution and knew I would have to do the inner work. I started reading about what different practices I had to do to get results. You have to face your insecurities and accept that they’re a part of who you are. Accepting myself was the hardest part because I hated so many parts of me and I just didn’t want to think or talk about them; but that was the only way forward.

I started addressing my issues. Initially it was very hard and made me feel disturbed for days on end. Slowly I started seeing differences in how I responded to situations and was able to not take things personally. This all happened because I was being kind to myself – my unhealed and broken parts. You’re not a bad person; you’re just imperfect. All humans are. The problem arises when we want to be perfect. You have to remember that there’s no perfect person on this planet.

Consider this – if people became perfect, wouldn’t their life just become boring? What else would they do in life because they would already be the best? The truth is that we’re given this life to go through positive and negative emotions and life events. They make us analyze ourselves and become better the next time the same thing happens.

If you can start being kind to yourself starting today, you’ll see how your life will change. You’ll feel like life is almost magic, which it truly is.
