Even when things seem hard, or you’re tired, or you’re frustrated you’re always receiving everyday blessings. Yes, really – just look around. You’re probably surrounded by a plethora of blessings, more than you might have noticed.
How many of these blessings are yours right now?
If that’s not your pleasure – central air, cool breezes, AC and fans are all blessings.
Good food. Fresh veggies and fruits. Comfort food. Snacks.
Smiling friends and family members – even if over the phone or Zoom.
Animals and birds.
Sunshine and rain, clouds and moonlight.
Warm water to bathe or shower in. Good-smelling soaps and essential oils or special shampoos.
Cat videos to watch. Maybe even a real cat! Or dogs, chickens, a lizard? Laughter. Games.
Rest. Good books and TV shows to peruse. Stories of all types. Pillows.
Plants. New growth.
People who love you.
Creativity. Playfulness. A hobby, or three. Dancing to your favorite songs.
Meditation. Yoga – even if over YouTube or Zoom.
Water. Nature. A park or backyard. Perhaps even the beach or a forest trail.
Let these little blessings infuse your day with gratitude and love.
If you believe the evening news and social media, the whole world is falling apart. But have you taken a step back to notice that the whole point of the news is to examine all the things that are bad, dramatic or unwanted? They never show the whole picture because it wouldn’t be so captivating.
When you take time to share gratitude for everyday blessings, you notice even more of them. You might see a bigger picture, one that brings hope.
Little acts of kindness. A child’s joyful laughter. A cat rubbing affectionately against your leg.
People donating to help causes they believe in. People reaching out with food for the hungry, shelter for the homeless. A whole bunch of people working to build a new, more just and conscious society in many different ways. Activists. Organic farmers. Creators. Entrepreneurs. Moms and Dads.
You can see it when you open your heart, slow down and look around you with fresh eyes.
Your life is full of amazing blessings, and the more you notice, the more it expands and the more you can help others in need and live your callings.
Let gratitude works its magic on you.
