The Tail of a Lost Insight

this day has been
sliding
through
my
fingers
unnoticed

decisions, moments, actions
anonymous
thoughtless

(because when a thought
is full it has mass and weight and
presence and cannot move
unnoticed)

until my poet’s eye
captured fleeting
tail feathers of
kingfisher thought
disappearing

his brilliant blue insight
unrevealed

and claxoned
for pens and
attention and
marks on paper

thoughts aligned with
this
now
moment

because that
particular kingfisher
will never fly over
my stream of consciousness
again, flicking his
tail and beaming
bright blue clarity

and my wordscapist
pen must be poised
for the next
