9 Steps for Creating More Joy

Joy isn’t an easy thing to manifest sometimes. I believe there’s a major difference in the idea of happiness and joy. It’s not always easy to find joy and it’s not always easy to allow joy to begin but I’ve found there are a few ways we can create more joy in our lives by being intentional in seeking it out.

Here are my suggestions on how you can create more joy in your life in 9 easy steps:

1.De-clutter your space
Out with the old and the things (or people) that no longer serve you. Get rid of that negativity. You don’t need that thing from 10 years you haven’t looked at in 6 years. 😉

2. Bring some essential oils into your life
Wear them topically or diffuse them in your home or office. It’s a lovely way to bring a smile to your face.

3. Get outside without headphones
Listen to the sounds around you. Treat it as a meditative state and simply listen. Notice the birds, the cars, the people, etc.

4. Unplug more often
Set aside time each week when you put the phone, computer and TV out of sight and do something nurturing to your soul.

5. Have a good laugh with someone you hold dear
Laughter ignites the soul and you deserve it.

6. Do a random act of kindness or pay it forward
Random acts always make me smile especially when I’m feeling down. Knowing I could have made a small difference in someone’s life fills my spirit.

7. Read a book that fills your soul
Read something that you can relate to or something that makes you laugh out loud. There’s nothing better than getting lost in a good book that brings a smile to your face.

8. Surround yourself with positive affirmations
You may need to write them down and stick them up all over your house. You know how you talk to your best friends so do the same for yourself!

9. Get yourself a treat
It doesn’t matter what it is. Only you know yourself the best and know what would make you more joyful, so get yourself new pens, a new outfit, a food treat or a coffee, whatever! Just treat yourself – you deserve it!

Joy starts within, so remember that you are exactly where you should be and the universe has your back. You’ve got this. Joy is always with you and you can call on it anytime.
