I can’t do anything about that.
This habit is too hard to change.
What’s the point?
Any of those sound familiar? I hear them all the time and know how many of us have felt that way.
The thing is, once you do the thing, change the habit or find the point, it doesn’t feel nearly as daunting as it did before we started.
What’s up with that? I refer to it as anticipatory anxiety, and it’s a big thief of power. Because our brains have evolved to keep us safe, this old cave-person trait is still present in our modern brains…and it makes the thought of change pretty anxiety inducing.
But knowledge is power, loves. Once you know what’s happening, you can choose to believe in your own power and you can use that power to start taking baby steps forward.
