When I Grow Up

When I grow up I want a be a mystic poet
Spending every waking hour
In a never ending conversation with the fresh mysteries of this magical earth

Listening for the cries of trembling life as it comes pouring through the cellulose veins of trees
The delicate peal of velvet luminosity as the sun circles behind the rose
The piercing chime of glistening raindrops as they shatter into a million shards of liquid sparkle

The soft and sacred hush of your breath

I am hungry for the shimmer
Always ready to sink my teeth into iridescence
Sniffing like a hound of love for for the scent of sweet rippling light

I long to open each and every pore of my skin
To the grand rush of glimmering generosity
That is the true nature of this life

I yearn to be a code breaker of the heart
Translating those soft murmurings
And those radiant realities of silence into words

I am burning to be a rumor monger for the divine
Telling tall tales of omnipresent and inescapable joy
Whispering secret stories of eternal devotion
Gossiping wildly about the never ending passionate affair
That my soul is having with everything it touches

All I can do is watch in wonderment
As my back bends slowly into the smooth curvature of surrender
From the days, weeks, months and years filled with bowing my head so it touches the ground
In sheer stunned gratitude
For the opportunity
To simply be here in this world
